After a month of work and studies the answer is simply no. You can make money and traffic, but the amount of work and time involved is best used in other forms of Internet marketing. It’s just that simple.

what would you say the main difference was in the quality of traffic coming from twitter trends to the equivilant from google search trends?
No. In our test so far it’s not even close with targeted Twitter nicks and traffic. Starting to look like a waste of time for direct traffic. BUT we have found/discovered a great way to climb the serps with a certain tool combined with a “out of the box” strategy.
